Giger's alien is not Cameron's alien. Those are two different creatures with two different concepts. Cameron, like always, wanted all to be in his fashion, so he rejected Giger and created the creature from zero, only keeping the looks. He simplified the creature for his simple movie - thus the space bug was born. In Giger's and Ridley's vision aliens were morphing other living creatures into eggs, just that. The creature overall was a biological weapon created by Engineers that broke out of hand. It never was a space insect. I treat Cameron's movie as a spin-off set in a different universe. Sadly, this movie got to more people, because it's less horror, so kids could watch it too, so bigger audience. And now we got AVP. Thank you, "genius" James.

What we got in Alien and Aliens was great. The one in alien 3 was good too since it came from a dog and was much smaller. The mix with other animals and the predator from the comic was good as well. The black goo was what the blob farted and should never have been used. Occasionally in basic designs in movies there is many good suggestions getting discarded. In Alien we got a good alein and space jockey.

Main problem is that most newer shitfi movies replace alien races with humans and human bio wpns. Because there is no aliens really, everything is human. Prometheus doesn't fit at all in the alien universe. Its a cheap uncreative cgi horrible movie. It is filled with morons as crew and is not interesting or even thrilling. Here is how the Alien franchise is to me. Alien and Aliens is canon add in predator + predator 2 in the latter which you can see the space jockeys skull in the thropy collection of the predators. AVP had some cool interesting ideas which was matching up with many of the comics and some of the novels. Some of the comics and novels is not fitting in good either. There is several of the games which are also very fitting with the story of Alien and predators. There were a good script for Alien 3 but it was scrapped for the horror we got. Ridley Scotts prequels was just a cash grab nothing more and he are not able to fix it. On a positive note there is many people making fan novel, short stories and movies which are quite decent. Anytime I hear the name Alien 3, I'm reminded of sitting in a theater and watching Hicks & Newt tossed into a burning pit. I was 12 I think, paid for a ticket to a PG movie and snuck into A3 instead. I think that's the 1st time a movie broke my heart. Wait....Masters of The Universe did that. That's when I learned movies could suck.

Why are all the aliens naked or lightly clothed. Except for the predators.

I always loved the feeling of the mystery that the space jockey and the ship radiated, that unknown, "Alien" feel to it. Space and time are vast, we but a grain of dust in it, and in Alien they stumbled upon a remnant of a forgotten time, something we humans have difficulty to explain with our knowledge and logic. The music underscores that perfectly. And they stumble upon, and become the victims of an ancient danger they cannot understand, the Alien. Personaly I would have prefered they left the space jockey origins unexplained, or that it still is an unexplained beeing that was worshiped by the engineers, and they adapted their technology to look like the space jockey/his race, or the organism he was part of. Also the origin of the Alien/Ovomorphs need no "Ah thats where they come from" explanation movie IMO.

An underrated film deep rising was supposed to set up a king Kong film afterwards.

Having David as the prime creator of the Xenomorphs is the biggest mistake in the franchise because they're supposed to be extraterrestrial, hence the title 'Alien', and not granted they're just his products, but the movie could've explored that. Although having the Xenomorphs as purely an organism of unknown origin that isn't just a bioweapon created by a single alien race is a smart idea because it brings the sense of mystery and ambiguity.

I'd like to belive the predators are still Canon and that the aliens were just a species not a bioweapon

both ways are quite bad honestly. egg-morphing takes insanely long and you need 2 victims for one alien. Queen on other hand isnt very useful when you have no drones, so if in alien 3 she would give birth to queen, she wouldnt be able to do shit away since she has no drones to bring her victims.... its just doesn't make sense in environment where some BASE alien population doesn't already exist.

Yeah we're never getting this. Also the Engineer in the original Alien was fossilized, ancient. it doesn't make sense to tie a covenant sequel into the origins of that Engineer as he physically predates Prometheus by thousands of years. The idea that the Engineers are actually extinct is also way cooler to me. And that there may be rare cases of only a handful of encapsulated dormant Engineers that can be awakened like the one in Prometheus. Also Covenant bombed because he didn't deliver on the obvious set up from Prometheus, instead he backtracked and devolved the story and regressed it massively and retconned the aliens origins retconning Alien 1 🤦🏻‍♂ All he had to do was keep Shaw and go to an actual Engineer home world. But my guess is he didn't actually have any ideas about how that story would even have continued. It's a very complicated and weird set up. One human, one robot, on an alien world. But that was still a better premise than Covenant.

As the Alien franchise evolved, the anthrocentric nature of the universe reasserted itself, making for a pretty boring story. Even the "alien" is just a product of humans via a robot. Boring. The original is good in that it shows the limitations of human understanding and the idea that humanity is really not that special in the universe. And that it is not of any time. All the back story crap just ruins the mystery. Even if fans want to know the back story, the best thing a writer can do is NEVER tell them. Somethings in a story are better left as unknown.

Pretty mindblowing to think that the tech Weyland Yutani and almost every character uses throughout the franchise came from Alien technology. Even though Requiem is not canon it’s interesting to think if Weyland or someone else at one point also came across something like this, and put it to use.
